I can’t even begin to say how sorry I am for the loss of Rose. She was such an amazing, strong woman. Rose has been in my life for so long now, that she’s more family than friend. She really helped me through such a tough time in my life and I will forever be grateful to her. I will miss our conversations about life and our opinions of current happenings. The four of us love Rose so much and she will be very missed. I wish peace for all of you.

Rose changed my life for the better in raising this special man who I’m now lucky to call my husband.  We shared many heartfelt discussions and laughs and I feel so glad that our paths crossed.   Sending love and hugs to the many other family and friends who love her and miss her.

We are sorry for the loss of Rose. She was a good person and such a fun spirit. We mean anyone who can put up with the Feldaverd’s, Weavers, and Kiser’s is a hero in our books. May God shed his light upon you, Rose. We will miss you!

PART 1. 
Here are some reasons why Rose is awesome. And because my mom liked to laugh, I’ll open with a joke.

My Mom taught me everything. 

My mom taught me how to shave.
That’s why I’ve had a beard for 20 years.
I can’t get close enough to the mirror with my leg on the toilet. But my legs? Super smooth.

(End of joke)

My mom listened to every thought my overactive brain came up with on the way to school and at home for years.
My mom would sing songs to Eric and I when we were kids. 
“Hey good lookin’ whatcha got cookin’?” “The itsy bitsy spider” (with a followup tickle attack) were favorites.

My mom substitute taught my elementary school and went on to get an education degree and taught junior high.
She would lose her voice from lecturing and working hard. She spent hours grading student work on the weekends.
She helped me prepare for all my German vocab tests in high school. I still have her in my phone as “Mutti”.

My mom cracked up when we were in the Jack in the Box drive thru once 
because we all kept repeating “cheddar wedges”.

My mom forced me to decorate the Oldsmobile station wagon with paper streamers and congratulatory messages written in soap before I drove to my last day of high school.

My mom used these memorable phrases liberally: “Jeezy peezy”, “I’m gonna kick your ass” and “oookaaaaaay”.

My mom took us to see Pulp Fiction in the theater when it came out.
My mom rented Natural Born Killers on VHS when we were little and 5 minutes into the movie she lept at the VCR, ejecting the tape.

Once my mom made vegetable lasagna and we all laughed about how horrible it was. My mom visited me when I was in college.

Several friends and friends of friends have commented “please thank you mother because she raised you right”.

My mother cared.

She talked me through a scary and incredible opportunity when I got cast in a junior high dinner theater role.

My mother once said her favorite song was Stairway to Heaven.
My mother liked Janis Joplin.
She hated Steve Miller’s Abracadabra.
My mother baked homemade chocolate chip cookies on Christmas while listening to Elvis Presley christmas songs on cassette.

My mother told me during her last bout of hospitalizations that she’s not going anywhere.

My mom is so strong. My mom overcame so much and achieved so much.
My mom got me into following government and politics.

My mom wrote in a poem, published in 1996 and titled In Memory, “While during my life, I have experienced love, I find it’s not forever”.

I love you Mom :).

Dear Rose,

I have many fond memories from Maryland, Arizona, and Delaware. I will always think of you and the many wonderful friends and family you have.
You are in my prayers and I love you.

Rose was a lot of things to our family…daughter, sister, mom, aunt, but most important, she was a loving wife to our brother Nick.  He was always first in her life, and he felt the same about Rose. Their shared laughter is something you could count on everyday.  We wanted more time for them, but God’s plan wasn’t ours. 

One of my most precious memories I have of Rose was when she wrote the eulogy for Nick’s and my mother. Not only did she write it, she read it at the service.  Rose gave me her handwritten version of which I am so grateful to have. What strength she had. What a loving heart she had. 

A very dear friend of mine sent me a beautiful prayer for Nick and our family.  She ended it with this reminder…
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” (Mathew 5:4)

My sister Rose was an amazing person, and I will miss her terribly. It took me much longer than it should have to fully realize how much she cared about me, and about all her "boys". We are each left with a hole in our hearts that will hurt for a long time. While the last few months were difficult, I treasured our almost daily chats and the times I got to spend with her and Nick. Every time I saw them together -- every time -- we laughed! In our homes, at restaurants, at shows or lectures; it was such a joy to spend time with them. Despite her longtime struggle with arthritis, she chose to live a joyful life and to be with the people who could make her happy and that she could love unconditionally. I, and all who knew her, will remember fondly the many times she blurted something out too quickly; as well as the truths she told, the wisdom she shared, and the great love she had for all of her boys. Rest in peace, Rose, rest in peace.
