Abram R. Garcia, age 74, of Live Oak, TX passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 31, 2023. Abram was born in San Antonio, TX to Candida and Julian G. Garcia. He graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1967 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force in the 57th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron at Clark AF Base. Abram later worked for Southwestern Bell and retired after 27 years. He then went to work for VIA, where he retired after 20 years of service. He loved collecting baseball cards and memorabilia and also loved watching his favorite baseball team the Houston Astros.
Abram is preceded in death by both of his parents; his niece, Maggie Garcia; his nephews, Adam and Robert Lopez; and his brother-in-law, Julian Coronado. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Garcia; his children, Tina Chapa (Johnny), Julian J. Garcia (Tamara), April Weeks (Donnie), Alfredo Garcia (Vivian), Siena Rivers (Forest), and stepson Paul Sanchez (Laura); his grandchildren, Ashley, Crystal, Chloe, Austin, Cody, Joseph, Jocelyn, and Irie; his great grandchildren, Jaeleen, Zekie, Peyton, Kaycen, Emily, Mya, and Ava; his siblings, Alta Coronado, Olga Bazan (Felix), Yolanda Torres, Lillie Fuentes (Danny), and Daniel Garcia (Irma); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Abram will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a service at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78205.
A committal service will occur Friday, October 13, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78602.
