

Altina (Tina) M. Bessette Sievers, 97 of San Antonio, TX, died on October 7, 2016 at Pfamily Tree Assisted Living in Pflugerville, TX. Mrs. Sievers was born in Agawam, Mass, on March 20, 1919, the daughter of Harold and Elizabeth Bessette. She married Clarence G. Sievers on August 2, 1947 in Agawam, MA, and later moved to Texas where she lived the remainder of her life. She was a devoted parishioner of St. Leo’s the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio for 60+ years. She was greatly involved in the church’s Altar Society and other community and church events. She had much love and found real joy in her two children, granddaughters, and great grandchildren. Tina enjoyed volunteering, reading, crocheting, ceramics, and traveling to visit her daughter in VA and CO.
Tina is survived by a son, Allen H. Sievers of San Antonio, TX, a daughter, Jane E. Sievers of Georgetown, TX, 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Aimee Sievers Sholund and Bob of Spring Branch, TX, Kristen Sievers Burnup and James of New Braunfels, TX, and five great-grandchildren (Travis, Justin, Courtney, Morgan, and Riley). Tina also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins in San Antonio, Albuquerque, Massachusetts, and other cities. Her husband, Clarence G. Sievers predeceased her in 1979.
Tina spent the last three years as a resident at Pfamily Tree Assisted Living, a beautiful residential care home administered by a very loving and compassionate owner, Judi Kennis. The family sincerely thanks Judi and the entire team of caregivers who ensured Tina’s days were filled with special care, love, joy, friendship, laughter, and comfort. Special thanks are extended to Tina’s Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Hospice Nurses, CNAs, Social Workers, Chaplains, and Volunteers, who were always there in a compassionate and loving way during Tina’s final journey. The family also thanks Craig Brooks, recent new owner, who has already demonstrated a strong desire to uphold the high level of care fostered over the years at Pfamily Tree.
Services for Tina will be held on Tuesday, October 18th. A viewing, from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and a rosary from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. will be at Roy Akers Funeral Home in San Antonio, TX. The celebratory Mass, officiated by Father Frank Macias is at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo’s the Great Catholic Church in San Antonio. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Following the interment, all are invited to attend a celebratory social for Tina. Patty and Gerald Pape are hosting this social at their home in Schertz, TX (2804 Kingsland Circle, Schertz, TX 78154).
