Amy Huan Shyun Lim was born in Singapore on May 13, 1956. She was the second child of six children born to Jok Liang Lim and Shiu Chuan Lim. She started playing the piano at the age of 6. During her early teen years, she began to accompany school choirs in competition. God blessed Amy with the gift of music. Her mom always told her that God gave her this gift to serve the Lord. Even as a youth, Amy used music to serve God. She served as a pianist not only for the school choirs but also for the church choirs. Amy also loved to sing and sang in both the school and church choirs. Amy left Singapore in September 1977 for the United States to pursue her studies in Music at the California State University, Hayward. That same year, the family immigrated to California. At the university, Amy met Ron Meron and was married on June 25, 1983 in Tiburon, California. While Ron attended seminary, Amy taught at a Christian preschool and also taught piano lessons. Amy actively served in church teaching Sunday school, leading choirs and playing piano for the worship services. Ron’s jobs brought them to Alabama, New Jersey, and finally Texas. While Amy and Ron were in New Jersey, God blessed them with Ian. 6 ½ years later, God blessed them with Matthew. Ron’s calling brought them to San Antonio in 1997. Working along Ron’s side in ministry and raising their two boys kept Amy busy, but they soon called San Antonio home. When Ron became sick, Amy taught in her private piano studio to support the family. Amy worked hard to care for and support her family, but she never complained. She trusted God to provide for her every need - money to fix the car, people to help repair the house, a job for Ian, and new piano students. Nothing was too big or too small for God. God faithfully answered her prayers.Even though life could be difficult, Amy had a firm faith in God. She depended and trusted in Him to carry her though any trial. She continued to persevere and serve the Lord and others with her gifts. Not only was she a talented pianist, she was gracious, hospitable, devoted, thoughtful, kind, faithful, and generous. We will remember her warm smile and gentle laugh. We know that Amy is with our Lord and we look forward to seeing her again in heaven.
