If there was anyone close to perfecting Jesus’ commandment to love others as we love ourselves, it was our mother. She loved others so well. She was the type of person who wanted to brighten up your day with a joke from the comic section of the newspaper. She would sing you “sana, sana colita de rana,” when you were in pain, and she could say that she loved you with a simple “mija or mijo.” She was a mother to six children by bloodline, but she also was a mother to a community; there were so many people that were blessed by her instinct to care for others and give without hesitation. She was the glue for our family. With our mother it was always I love you more and never I love you, too.
Mom, we love you more and “thank you for everything.”
