Bernard Anthony Juettemeyer was born December 8, 1948 and grew up in Nauvoo, Illinois. However, Bernard was born across the river in Fort Madison, Iowa since Nauvoo's small size precluded a hospital. Bernard lived a full life of service, from his Vietnam War deployment as an Air Force MP stationed in Saigon, to his eightenteen years as an officer in the San Antonio Police Department, and in his favorite retirement job as a bus driver for St. Mary's Hall. Bernard passed peacefully, at home, in accordance with his wishes, surrounded by family on April 28, 2022.
Bernie, as he was known by those close to him, was known for his giving nature and kindness-- he freely gave help to those in need, whether through charity or through the aid his labor could provide. Bernie loved to travel and frequently went on road trips to visit family all over the country. He enjoyed the outdoors and participated in various activities that found him outside, from yard work and landscaping (he loved his tractor and his dump trucks), hiking, bicycling with his friends in the Cool Cats, and going on long motorcycle rides. He was a loving father and compassionate husband, a good Catholic, a true role model in work ethic, and a man interested in history, local and global. Bernie loved to read and reached American Classics in Upton Sinclair and Stephen Crane, historical fiction, and the novels of Rick Riordan. His favorite song was, "Mercedes Benz" by Janis Joplin and sang it even in his final days.
Bernard goes off to see those who went before him, including grandchildren, Sean and Angelina, and sister, Ruth. He is survived by his wife (and nurse) of fifty-two years, Rosalinda, his sons, Kenneth, Joshua, Jeremiah, Dwight, and Bernard II, daughter, Kymberly, seventeen grandchildren, and sisters Patricia Harrison, Beth Knipe, and Judy Krogmier.

A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM, 8134 Blanco Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78216.
