Carmen M. Guarnero

Carmen M. Guarnero, age 90 a life long resident of San Antonio, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 23, 2019. She was born on October 2, 1928 in San Antonio Texas to Juan and Maria del Jesus (Marina) Guerra Martinez. She married Jose Pilar Guarnero on June 18th 1950. Her first employer out of high school was Santone Clothing Factory where she remained for a number of years. She then worked for Baptist Memorial Hospital in the Central Service Department retiring in 1981. She enjoyed doing arts and crafts to decorate her home during the holidays. She was also a great cook. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents Juan and Marina, brother Juan Jr., sister Blanca and brother Manuel.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years Jose Pilar Guarnero, sons Peter Andrew and Joe Daniel (Christina), grandchildren Kristine Marie, Daniel Andrew and Caitlin Amber Guarnero, great grandson Ethan Michael, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, August, 6th 2019 at Roy Akers Funeral Home - 515 N. Main Ave. 78205 - from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. Rosary will be at 7:00pm. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019 at 9:30 am at St. John Berchmans Church - 1147 Cupples Rd. 78226. The Committal Service will take place at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #2 on August 7th 2019 at 11:15 am.

The Guarnero Family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Vitas Hospice staff for the care they provided to Carmen. In addition, we would like to express our gratitude to the Roy Akers staff and all those who extended a hand during Carmen’s last days. She will be tremendously missed but we are comforted by those around us.
