

Consuelo “Chelo” DeLeon Gutierrez, age 101, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.
Consuelo was born on October 24, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the second oldest of six children and the last surviving sibling. On February 14, 1945, she married the love of her life, Louis Aleman Gutierrez. They shared 53 years of marriage until his passing in 1998.
Consuelo worked at Fine Silver as a Seamstress/Machine Operator. She proudly contributed during World War II as part of the Rosie the Riveter Era, painting airplanes in the Paint and Dope Department for ten years. She loved working on her yard, mowing and trimming even on the hottest days. She enjoyed refinishing furniture.
Consuelo loved a good cup of coffee at any time of day and enjoyed the sounds of a casino—especially when she was winning. She was happiest when her family was together for gatherings and celebrations. She was deeply devoted to her siblings, to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Consuelo’s faith in God guided her throughout her life.
Consuelo lived a blessed 101 years and is survived by two of her three children, Son, Louis D. Gutierrez Jr., (wife Cynthia P. Gutierrez) Daughter, Nancy G Reyes, (spouse Freddy Reyes) Her eldest son, John Delgado, preceded her in death.
She leaves behind her grandchildren: Christine G. Howell (spouse Leroy F. Howell Jr.), Louis Gutierrez III (spouse Liz Gutierrez), Cindy Lou Gutierrez, Laura Ann Gutierrez, Clarissa Ann Reyes, Alfred Louis Reyes, and Julissa Ann Reyes; her great-grandchildren: Christianna Elaine Howell, Kristen Lea Howell, Delilah Gutierrez, Dylan Louis Gutierrez, Destiny Gutierrez, and Sylas Franklin. She is also survived by a number of nephews and nieces.
Consuelo will be greatly missed, she has left many memories that will be shared for many years to come. We are very grateful for her time on earth.

A visitation will be held on February 9, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, located at 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas, 78205. A rosary will also take place at the same venue on February 9, 2026, from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral mass is scheduled for February 10, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1730 Dahlgreen Ave, San Antonio, TX, 78237.
A graveside service will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX, on February 10, 2026, starting at 11:30 am.
