It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cosme, a beloved husband, father, and cherished friend, who left this world on October 6, 2026. Born on September 22, 1945, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, Cosme lived a life full of love, dedication, and service to others.
Cosme was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Yolanda, on October 9, 1976. Together, they shared a remarkable journey of 50 years, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Their union was blessed with a son, Cosme Cano Jr, who brought immense joy and pride to their lives.
A proud graduate of Preparatoria Nocturnia, Cosme furthered his education by attending San Antonio College for a year. He was a man of many talents and pursued a varied career. He worked at San Antonio College, Trinity University, and the H-E-B freezer dept and some construction. However, it was at Holiday Inn where he found his true calling, dedicating 32 years of service from 1981 until his retirement in 2013. His commitment and hard work left a lasting impact on his colleagues and guests alike.
Cosme was deeply involved in his community, serving as a coach and board member at St. Margaret Mary's CYO. He also volunteered as a hospitality member during masses, always eager to lend a helping hand and share his warm smile. His presence was a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
In his personal time, Cosme found joy in simple pleasures. He could often be found in his garage, tinkering with electronics and organizing his beloved collection of tools. A passionate gardener, he took great pride in tending to his rose bushes, nurturing them with the same care and attention he gave to his relationships. He also loved listening to music and dancing.
Though Cosme was a quiet man, his humor and beautiful smile had a way of lighting up the room. His kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of many, and his legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Cosme was proceeded in death by his beloved parents, Eugenio and Victoriana Cano; and his siblings Eugenio Patricio Cano, Pedro Cano, and Maria Elva Cano.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yolanda S. Cano; his son, Cosme Cano Jr.; his siblings Irma Arias (Roberto), Rosa Huerta (Roberto), Martha Cano (Rodolfo), and Victor Cano (Sandra). He also has many nieces & nephews and dear friends who were blessed to know and love him.
We find comfort in knowing that he has been reunited with loved ones in heaven and is now at peace in the presence of the Lord. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all those whose lives he touched. Until we meet again.
