Ermenegilda Nino Rodriguez, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family on September 15, 2024. A lifelong resident of Somerset, Texas, Ermenegilda was born on April 13, 1929, and touched many lives through her unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Ermenegilda dedicated much of her professional life to Somerset Independent School District as a custodian manager, where her work ethic and skills were truly exemplary. She was a remarkable woman with a diverse set of talents, from working on the farm and fixing cars to driving a dump truck. Her resourcefulness and strong spirit were evident in all she did.
Her personal passions included her weekly ritual of watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, savoring her Sunday newspaper, and maintaining a deep commitment to her faith. Despite not being fond of dresses, she wore one every Sunday for church services, reflecting her dedication to her faith and family. She was a fervent Dallas Cowboys fan, often cooking Sunday meals while keeping a close eye on the game—though the Cowboys’ performance could sometimes lead to a bit of good-natured frustration.
Ermenegilda's cooking was a central part of family gatherings, known especially for her peach cobbler and apple pie. She delighted in spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, cherishing each visit and the joy it brought her.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Augustine Felan Rodriguez; her parents, Torribia G and Epifano Nino; her siblings, Catarina, Aurelia, Paula, and Domingo; her daughters, Mary Jane Sauceda and Frances Rodriguez; her son-in-law, Deacon Roberto Cruz; and her grandson, Robert Anthony Cruz.

Cruz, and Joseph Daniel (Ariceli) Rodriguez; her sister, Dora Lucio; her grandchildren, Linda (David) Gutierrez, Laura Ann Sauceda, Nicholas (Jessica) Rodriguez, Dayana (Felix) Chuang, and Alexandria (Andre Young) Rodriguez; her great-grandchildren, Danielle Sauceda, Jeremy Sauceda, Jonathan (Jeannette) Gutierrez, David Gutierrez, Amelia, Matilda, and Elias Rodriguez; and her great-great-grandchildren, Marissa & Clarissa Ortiz, Aaron Sauceda, Aimee, Secily, Adrian, & Jonathan Gutierrez, and Theodore Gutierrez.
