Esperanza Ramirez Pena

Esperanza R. Pena, beloved mother and grandmother, born February 2, 1917, went to rest with the Lord on June 12, 2014 at the age of 97. She is joyously reunited with the love of her life, husband of 59 years, Andres M. Pena, and youngest son, Albert Pena who preceded her in death. Esperanza, always poised with grace and faith, had the purest heart and gave her grandchildren some of the fondest memories of their childhoods. She was the epitome of strength and unconditional love. She was and will continue to be an inspiration of living life to the fullest as we remember her perpetual, genuine smile. She is survived by brothers Gilberto Ramirez, Francisco Ramirez and sister Josefina Bryan. Sons and daughters: Francisco Andres Pena and wife Martha; Armando Pena and wife Gloria; Hilda Pafford and husband Jon; Rosario Pena Hamilton; Arturo Pena and wife Isabel; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin Wednesday, June 18 at 5 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. at Roy Akers Funeral Chapels on 515 N. Main. Funeral procession will depart Thursday, June 19 at 8:30 a.m. for a 9 a.m. mass at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
