Estela Sanchez Salas

Estela Sanchez Salas, beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on May 20, 2012 at the age of 79. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on Oct. 13, 1932 to Cesario and Manuela Sanchez. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Fernando Salas. She is survived by her children, Joe Salas, (Monico Andrade), Mary Musquiz, (Tony Musquiz), Robert Salas, (Margarita Salas), Delia Rios, (Robert Rios), and Fernando Salas Jr. (Nandito). Grandchildren: Cynthia Guerra, (Raul Guerra), Cathy Musquiz, Samuel Orosco, Robert Salas, Fernando Salas, Estela Reyna, (Loyal Lybarger), Jessica Cruz, (Alfonso Cruz); and numerous great-grandchildren. She was a devoted mom who loved to cook and watch the SPURS on TV. She loved to go gambling to Coushatta and Kickapoo. She was an excellent Poker player. Estela raised her 5 children on Vera Cruz St. and they attended Lanier High School. She worked at Fort Sam Houston in the officers club for several years. Estela owned and operated a neighborhood business (Apache Courts Store) for many years. She will be remembered for her strength, generosity, and for her loyalty and love for her family. The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will leave the funeral home the following morning, Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. for an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1321 El Paso St. A Committal Service will follow at San Fernando Catholic Cemetery II.
