

Fannie T. Vasquez left this world in peace to be with our Lord on July 25, 2016, after a long illness. She was 84. She was born Estefana Trevino to Jesusa H. Ferrales Lopez and Candelario (Eddie) Trevino. She resided most of her life in Corpus Christi, TX, and lived in San Antonio, TX for many years retiring in her beloved Canyon Lake, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Master Sergeant Epifanio Vasquez, Sr., her brother Jose Trevino, her sister, Viola Bernal, and her grandson, Raymond Silvas, III. Survivors include her children, Richard (Juanita) Avalos (Portland, T), Grace Avalos (Corpus Christi), Diana (Roger, Jr.) Cruz (Corpus Christi), Sandy (Pete) Almanza, San Antonio, TX, and Epifanio (Kate) Vasquez, Jr. (Austin). Her grandchildren, Cynthia Delgado, Jose Avalos, Adele Avalos, Karen Jensen, Stephanie Herrera, Patricia Gonzalez, Andrew Joseph (AJ) Almanza, Monica Langley, Roger Cruz, III, Angelica Sanders and Katherine Rider. Granny Fannie had 22 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandsons. She is also survived by her sisters Ysa Camacho (Corpus Christi), Maria Elena Sorensen (Colorado) and Ida Garcia (Austin), and many blessed relatives, friends and loved ones. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016, at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N. Main, San Antonio, TX, from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua, 102 Lorenz, San Antonio, TX, on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. with interment at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Wurzbach Rd., San Antonio, TX, at 11:30 a.m. Pallbearers will be Roger (Tri) Cruz, III, Andrew (AJ) Almanza, Rick Delgado, Victor Trevino, Jr., Victor Gonzalez, and Manuel Esparza. Honorary Pallbearers will be Victor Trevino, Sr., and Jaime Garcia. Contributions may also be made in her honor to the Alzheimer’s Association. We would like to give special thanks to Diana Cruz and Richard and Juanita Avalos for the wonderful and special care of their beloved mom, Fannie Vasquez, for so many years, and the Spohn Hospital Hospice Group.
