Francisco Roman Lara II, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on June 25, 2025, at the age of 72. A proud lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, Francisco will be remembered for his deep love of family, his larger-than-life personality, and the passion he brought to everything he did.
Francisco was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys and rarely missed a game. He was an avid pool player with a competitive spirit and a sharp eye. He had a deep appreciation for country music and western culture, which were woven into the fabric of his everyday life.
He was preceded in death by his father, Benjamin F. Lara; his mother, Minerva Luna Lara; and his sister, Gloria Susana Lara. He is survived by his loving siblings, Norma Lara Keammerer and Minerva Lara Elizalde; his sons, Benjamin F. Lara II and Frank Gayhart; and his grandchildren, Alexis Lara Ragsdale, Serenity Lara Martinez, Justice Gayhart, and Regan Gayhart. He also leaves behind his nephews, Arturo Uresti Jr., Xavier M. Lara, and Gabriel Keammerer.
Francisco’s extended family includes his aunt Dolores De La Cruz (Manuel) and uncles Abraham H. Luna (Rose), Richard H. Luna (Josie), and Arturo H. Luna, all of whom held special places in his heart.
Francisco’s presence lit up every room. His laughter, strength, and deep loyalty to his loved ones will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
A visitation for Francisco will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A rosary will occur Wednesday, July 16, 2025 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral mass will occur Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at St Ann's Catholic Church, 210 St Ann St, San Antonio, TX 78201. A graveside service will occur Thursday, July 17, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at San Fernando Cemetery II, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237.
