

Frank L. Camacho Jr. was surrounded by his loving family when he peacefully took his last breath on July 20, 2014 at the age of 89. A native of San Antonio he was born on October 5, 1924. He graduated from Leon Valley High School and attended Southwest Electrical Institute when he was drafted into the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of the 293rd Joint Assault Signal Corp attached to the 1st Infantry, 1st Division. He saw combat in 2 theaters: Omaha beach Normandy, France on D-Day, second wave; and the South Pacific in the Philippine Islands. When the war ended, he came home to marry his sweetheart Eloise Garza on Octobert 19, 1946. He attended San Antonio Barber College, and ultimately owned Frank’s Barber Shop on Blanco Rd. for more than 50 years. Frank was a man of great faith, integrity, and devoted to his family. He was a founding member of Holy Rosary Church where he enjoyed being in the Men’s Club, Eucharistic Minister, and an Usher. He was a Deputy Constable, and an accomplished violinist and guitarist. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, gardening, and carpentry. In his retirement he restored and built birdhouses. He will be greatly missed by many family members, friends, and customers. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Francisco and Maria de la Paz Camacho; sisters, Alice Camacho and Consuelo Torrez. He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Eloise G. Camacho; daughters: Rose Marie Alonzo (Alejandro); Linda Mae Ramos (Roman); Alice Ann Almaguer (James); and son, Frank G. Camacho (Gloria); 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; his sisters: Concha Ocampo, Amelia Tavizon, Victoria Evans; and brother, David Camacho. The family will receive friends at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Sunday, July 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. for a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 8:30 a.m., Monday, July 28, 2014 for a 9:00 a.m. Mass also at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
