Fred Herrera

Fred Saenz Herrera, born on December 9, 1928, in San Antonio, TX, went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2024, at the age of 95. He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frieda, his daughter Norma, and his brothers David and Raul Herrera.

Fred is survived by his sister Beatrice (Bebe), his sons Michael, Robert and wife Rosie, and Fred Herrera; his daughter Elizabeth (Liz) and husband Robert Ramon; his grandchildren Norma and Fernando Martinez and wife Kristy, Beverley Flores, and Lauren and Alexis Herrera; his great-grandchildren Tivoli Martinez, Emma and Ethan Flores-Martinez. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, and nieces. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Fred graduated from Edgewood High School, proudly served in the U.S. Navy, attended Southwest Texas State University, and worked at Kelly Air Force Base for 43 years, retiring in 1989 as Deputy Chief of Quality.

A man of many talents, Fred loved the outdoors and found joy in hunting, fishing, building, and in his earlier years, golfing. He embraced life fully and will be missed by many.

A visitation for Fred will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral service will occur Monday, September 30, 2024 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home with burial following at San Fernando III Cemetery (Joint Base Kelly Side), 1735 Cupples Rd, San Antonio, TX 78226.
