The Pacheco family lost a great lady, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. Guadalupe was born in Floresville, Texas on September 25, 1926 and passed away at home with her family by her side on February 10, 2020 at the age of 93. Guadalupe was the 10th child of eleven children born to Melchor Pacheco of Graytown and Lucinda Ximenez of Floresville, Texas. She was the granddaughter of Serafina Jacoba (Olivares) and Manuel de Jesus Ximenez, the Sherriff of Wilson County who served three terms during the years of 1890-1900. She was the sixth generation Canary Islander through the lineage of Juan Rodriguez Granados and Maria Robiana Bethencourt. She was the last child of Melchor and Lucinda to enter into Heaven. Guadalupe grew up on the farm in Seguin, Texas for fourteen years during the Great Depression, and in 1944, most of the family moved to San Antonio, Texas. She worked at Friedrich Air Conditioning Company for 35 years.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by her husband and soulmate, John William Jory, Jr. and her infant daughter, Angelita Rios. Her brothers and sisters, Francisco, Venceslao, Victoria, Jesus, Melchor II, Jose, Juan, Guillermo, Theresa, Eva, and her beloved great-granddaughter, Erin Rios Castro.
She is survived by her children, Jesus Pacheco Rios and wife Ruby Ann Gaitan, daughter Estela Menchaca and husband Edward Bradfute. Grandchildren; Richard Brent Rios and wife Rachelle Kinsel, Ruby Jessica Rios and husband Raul de la Garza, Rena Marie Rios Castro and Maria Dolores Hidalgo. Great-great grandchildren; Ryan Anthony Rios, R.J. de la Garza, Matthew de la Garza, Rylee Daye de la Garza, Ashley Maria Rios, Jesse Rios Castro, Brooke Rios Castro Vasquez, and River Ray Rios.
Guadalupe will be remembered by the countless lives she touched with love and kindness.
The family will be receiving friends for a Visitation on Monday, February 17 at Roy Akers Funeral Home – 515 N. Main Ave. – from 5 PM to 9 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 PM. A Funeral Procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, February 18 and arrive at St. Luke Catholic Church – 4603 Manitou Dr. 78228 – for a Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial at San Fernando Cemetery II – 746 Castroville Rd. 78237 – will follow at the conclusion of the service.
