In 1955, Idalia married the love of her life, Adolfo Leal. Together they shared 66 years of marriage built on love, strength and devotion. As a proud Air Force wife, she faithfully supported her husband’s military career, first moving to Florida where they started their family. Then moving their young family on to Japan, Kansas, Turkey and eventually back home to Texas. Wherever life took them, Idalia created warmth, stability and a loving home. Upon returning to Texas, they purchased a home where they continued raising their children and building a lifetime of memories.
Family was the center of Idalia’s world. Nothing brought her more joy than having everyone gathered together. She was a nurturing mother who worked tirelessly to care for and provide for her family. She was an incredible cook, known for her delicious meals and baked goods, and it mattered deeply to her that no one ever left her home hungry. Her generosity, kindness and quiet strength touched everyone who knew her. She was also a gifted seamstress. Lovingly making clothes for her two daughters when they were young, especially for special events and holidays, always wanting them to be happy and look nice.
A devoted Catholic, Idalia served faithfully for many years as a member of St. Paul’s choir. Her love extended beyond her children to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, with whom she shared a bond that was tender, joyful and deeply special.
She is survived by her loving children, Selma, Adolfo Jr, Elsa and Ron; her sister, Alma and brother, Mike, 11 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Her legacy of love, faith and family will live on through each of them.
