

He graduated from Central Catholic School and received a Bachelor's of Arts degree from St. Mary's University in International Finance.
James was married to the love of his life, Shirley Valencia on August 19, 1971. He had a career in banking and education where he started out with in the banking industry with Helotes National Bank until retirement. James later switched careers to education and work with San Antonio Academy. He was a member of the Marine Corp Reserves and had a passion for woodworking and oil on canvas.
James was proceeded in death by his mother Janie G. Berdecio.
He lives to cherish his memories his loving wife of 50 years, Shirley Ann Berdecio, son James Phillip Berdecio, son Anthony Jerome Berdecio, grandchild Tatiana Micaela Berdecio, grandchild Kaya Siboney Berdecio along with a host of other relatives and friends.
A visitation for James will be held Sunday, July 11, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home Chapel, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384, followed by a funeral service from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
Funeral service will also be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205, followed by a committal service at San Fernando #2 Cemetery, 746 Castroville Rd., San Antonio, TX
