Jesse James Akers Jr.

Jesse James Akers passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the age of 88. He was a member of the Christopher Columbus Society at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church and employed at Roy Akers Funeral Chapels for 65 years. Mr. Akers was preceded in death by his parents Jesse Sr. and Leona Akers, wife Marie, brothers Ira Akers and Gerald Akers. He is survived by his son Donald Jesse Akers Sr. and wife Carol; grandsons, Donald Jesse Akers Jr. and wife Vicky, James L. Akers; granddaughter Diane Trevino and husband Shawn; great granddaughters, Mackenzie Rose Akers, Sophia Marie Akers, Lauren Madison Trevino and Hailey Reese Trevino; sister Dorothy Jean Holley and her husband Reggie, sister-in-law Gayle Akers and Theresa Ross; nephew Michael Ross and numerous other nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from at 12:00pm to 7:00pm on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Roy Akers Funeral Chapels and continue on Monday, June 20, 2011 from 9:00am to 9:00pm with a Rosary being recited at 7:00pm. Family will receive friends at 9:30am on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at San Francesco di Paola Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be at 10:30am with Fr. Quang D. Van officiating. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. Serving as pallbearers will be Donald Akers Jr., James Akers, Archie Akers, David Akers, Shawn Trevino, and Roy Holley. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.

Jess holds a very special place in my heart, as he has always been a very sweet presence when we lost our many family members.
