

Jesse was a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service. He was a dedicated member of his church and a devout Catholic who found strength and comfort in his faith throughout his life. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S.S. Chicago.
He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Santiago Castillo (Marcos Almares, husband) and Lilly Annette Santiago (Mary Gillford, spouse); his sibling, Sarah Socorro Santiago; his grandchildren, Robert Castillo (Denise Castillo) and Josie Araujo (Martin Araujo); nine great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; 10 nephews; and 10 nieces.
Jesse was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Betty Santiago; his parents, Gregorio and Librada Santiago; his siblings, Octavio Santiago, Janie Pickering, Lydia Vasquez, and Elizabeth Moyer; and his beloved grandson, Ruben Castillo (Stacie Giddens).
Jesse cherished sharing stories of his and Betty's younger days together, recounting their many memories and adventures. He often reminisced about his travels and his experiences in the Navy, stories that captivated all who listened. He also had a special admiration for the Blue Angels and never missed an opportunity to speak of their remarkable performances.
Jesse's unwavering faith, kind spirit, and love for his family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of devotion, storytelling, and love lives on through the generations of family he leaves behind.
Visitation will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205, US, on July 28, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, with the Rosary at the same location that evening from 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower, San Antonio, TX 78201, US, on July 29, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a Graveside Service at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, US, from 11:30 am to 11:50 am.
