Joan Owen

Joan Owen; beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Sister; entered eternal rest on November 27, 2014 at the age of 52. Born in Laredo, Texas on July 19, 1962 to Raymond and Fanny Matelski, she now re-unites with her parents whom have preceded her in death. Joan is survived by her husband of 12 years, Marlon Owen; children: Brandi Matelski (Jose Cisneros), Virginia Soto, Cynthia Celeste Soto, Carlos Soto Jr., Lee Owen, Delilah (her four-legged furry child); 13 grandchildren; siblings: Rose Mendoza (Ricardo), Ruan Matelski (Rose), Victoria Short (Mark), Raymond Matelski Jr. (Minnie) , Fanny Matelski; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Joan attended St. Phillips College for 3 years in which she obtained her certification as a Coding Specialist and Completion of Basic Arrhythmia.

She used her credentials in several health facilities, including: Southwest General Hospital, Nix Hospital, North Central Baptist Hospital, Life Care Hospital, and Parklane West Medical Records. She enjoyed the social atmosphere with friends, co-workers, and those who were dear to her. Her favorite past times included antiquing, crocheting, and Spurs Games. She loved going to the beach, traveling, and spending time with her precious, four-legged, furry daughter, Delilah.
