

Joe Robert Garcia, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, proud veteran, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at the age of 82. Born on July 11, 1944, Joe lived a life defined by honor, service, and unwavering love for his family and community.
Joe proudly served his country as a veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His military service was a source of immense pride throughout his life, and he carried the values of duty, courage, and patriotism long after his time in uniform. He remained committed to serving his fellow veterans through his involvement with the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), where he dedicated countless hours to supporting those who had served alongside him. Above all, Joe was proud to be a veteran and cherished the bonds he shared with his fellow servicemen and women.
Joe is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Elodia Garcia; his daughter, Cindy Garcia Cruz; his son, Joe Robert Garcia Jr.; and extended family Jeff Rodriguez and Nancy Almanza. His siblings, Dolores Zamora and George Garcia; and his beloved granddaughter,Jasmine Garcia and his great granddaughter Jenny Cerrillo, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Outside of his service, Joe found happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He loved cooking for family and friends, creating meals that brought everyone together around the table. Known for his keen eye for a great deal, Joe was an enthusiastic bargain shopper who took pride in finding the best value.
Joe Robert Garcia leaves behind a legacy of patriotism, dedication, kindness, and love. His life was a testament to selfless service—both to his country and to those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever honored by all whose lives he touched.

A Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (West Side of San Antonio, Texas) on August 12, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A Graveside Service will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209, US, on August 12, 2026, from 11:30 am to 11:50 am.
