

John A. Gonzalez, beloved cousin, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, at the age of 83. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, to parents Juan and Irma Gonzalez, on September 8, 1928. John proudly served our country in the United States Army, being rewarded with a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He loved his walks with the American Volkssport Association, where he accomplished over 850 walks, often accompanied by his beloved dogs, Bonzo and Suzy. He was a devoted member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society and a member of St. Mary Magdelan Catholic Church. John will always be remembered for his big hearted kindness and he will be deeply missed by his family and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Gloria “Sissy” Gonzalez. He is survived by his cousins, Gilbert (Mary) Gonzalez, Rosemarie Gonzalez, Ramiro (Mieke) Gonzalez, Alberta Montano, Irene Esparza, Manuel Esparaza and his long-time-friend, Dorothy Arnold. The family would like to acknowledge the professionals of Emeritus and VITAS for their kind help, especially Annette Frias. The family will receive friends on Monday, July 16, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, 1710 Clower Street (78201), with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Rosary.
