Leonard Lopez

Leonard Lopez “the original” entered eternal rest on October 21, 2016 at the age of 91. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he was born to Eulalio and Tomasa Lopez on July 17, 1925; he now reunites with his parents, great-granddaughter Autumn Lee Schaefer, and siblings, Socorro Navarro, Delia Gallegos, and George Lopez. He is survived by his wife Nicolasa Lopez; children, Sandra Griffith (John), Debra Cantu (Martha Fabela), 11 children from previous marriage; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings Isabel Martin and Eulalio Lopez, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Leonard enjoyed family BBQ’s, cold adult beverages, and his Corrido/Conjunto music. He had is daily routine with coffee and newspaper and stayed busy assisting with yard work and going for daily walks. He was a regular visitor at the VFW post 8936 for many years, but his most memorable times were spent with his grandchildren. The family will be receiving guests at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1515 Saltillo, on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. for a visitation followed by a Rosary at 11:00 a.m. and Mass of Resurrection at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery .
