Lessie B. Smith, 92, peacefully entered the Lord’s presence on Monday, September 7, 2020. Lessie was born on October 29, 1927 in Waelder, Texas to Henry and Elved Brown. Lessie attended school in Waelder, Texas and later moved to San Antonio, Texas where she married Harold Henry Smith. She attended Grant Memorial AME church for many years and held numerous positions at her church. She also worked as a peace officer for the sheriff’s office and a housekeeping aide for The Baptist Healthcare System for 23 years. Lessie enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. Family was always welcomed at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Elved Brown, her husband Harold Smith as well as her siblings, Mattie Lee Scott, LV Brown, Bill Brown, Evelyn Brown, Enoise Brown, and Truman Brown. She is survived by her brother Henry Brown Jr. and son, Walter Brown and his wife Patricia T. Brown. Lessie is also survived by her grandchildren, Serena Leach, Trista Saunders and her husband Lonnie, Savannah Castleberry and her husband Darryl, Daniel Espinoza and his wife Tara Grace, and Walter Brown Jr., great-grandchildren are Laura Saunders, Vanessa Saunders, Elliott Hernandez, Rylie Hernandez, Matilda Espinoza, Darryl Castleberry Jr., and Paisley Castleberry. Lessie is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
