

Lucila Lozano Rodriguez, 98, passed away on November 26, 2023. She was born in Zuazua, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to Adolfo Lozano Martinez and Felipa Gonzalez, one of 7 siblings. As a young girl, she and her sisters worked at the General Electric light bulb factory in Monterrey, Mexico. After marrying Henry G. Rodriguez in 1946, they moved to the United States and had 6 children. She held dual citizenship, becoming a Naturalized U.S. citizen in 1991, and was a staunch Democrat.
A devout Catholic, she worked 18 years in the daycare nursery at Wayside Church. She never drove, but instead walked everywhere.
She enjoyed gardening, cooking and loved being with her family. She and Henry played couples Bunco with their friends for years. She also loved a good margarita. Beloved by all who knew her, she will be remembered for her poise, grace, and always perfectly coiffed hair. Her warmth and kindness will be missed, as will her delicious cooking (especially those rice and beans all her kids and grandkids were raised on).
She is survived by sons Hector Rodriguez and daughter-in-law Santos, son Rafael Rodriguez and daughter-in-law Ellen, son Ernesto Rodriguez and daughter-in-law Mary, son in law Robert Arevalo, 15 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by husband Henry G. Rodriguez, son Rick Rodriguez, son Rene Rodriguez, daughter Patricia Arevalo, sisters Carolina and Isaura, and brothers Rodolfo, Luis, Eduardo, Hector, and Rafael.
A graveside service for Lucila will be held Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Archdiocese of San Antonio -Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78266.
