

Luis Castillo Sanchez, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest on January 18, 2012, at the age of 87. He was born in Christine, Texas, to parents Guadalupe and Luisa Sanchez, on October 12, 1924. He worked as a surveyor for CPS Energy for 37 years. Luis also served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 as a Longshoreman during WWII, in the battles and campaigns of Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea and South Phillipines Liberation Luzon, receiving medals of Good Conduct, Victory, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, as well as four bronze service stars. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family. Luis was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Ramon and Alfonso Sanchez. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Carolina; daughters, Elsa Guerra (Mark), Diana Arteaga (Carlos), Rosemarie Flores (Danny), and Mary Lou Sanchez; grandchildren, Jesse Garza, Stephanie Zambrano, Belinda Miles, Gabriella Arteaga, Andrew and Zachery Flores, Alyssa and Amanda Sanchez; great-grandchildren, Breyden Schultz, Hayden and Madeline Zambrano; brother, Joaquin Sanchez; sisters, Lupita Contreras and Isabel Wong; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family will receive friends at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers on Monday, January 30, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, for a 8:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1114 Willow.
