Mary Margaret Baez, a lifelong San Antonio native, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2026, at the age of 94.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mike S. Baez III; her father, Pedro P. Lopez; her mother, Teresa Rincon; and her brothers, Pedro R. Lopez (“Sunny”) and Augustine Lopez.
Mary Margaret is lovingly survived by her son, Michael Augustine Baez, and daughter-in-law, Anna Maria Baez. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Michael Augustine Baez Jr., Melissa Bernal, and Monica Velarde; three treasured great-grandchildren; four nieces; five nephews; and many extended family members and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
For more than 60 years, Mary Margaret was a highly respected and talented seamstress whose remarkable craftsmanship touched countless lives throughout San Antonio. She was honored to create beautiful gowns for numerous Fiesta Queens, brides, bridal parties, and Social Club debutantes. Her dedication, creativity, and attention to detail earned her a reputation for excellence, while her kindness and warm spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Mary Margaret’s legacy is one of love, hard work, generosity, and devotion to her family and community. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Little Flower Basilica.
