
Max Garcia, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, entered the Lord’s rest on February 27, 2013 at the age of 93. He was born in Hondo, Texas to Hipolito and Josefa Garcia on April 5, 1919. Mr. Garcia retired from Brook Army Medical Center, Ft. Sam Houston after a 35-year government career. Mr. Garcia was an ammunition specialist loading bombs on the B17’s “Flying Fortress” in the European Theater, operating out of Sicily. He served 3 years in the U.S. Army Air Corps and his final rank was staff sergeant. His service in the area gave him five battle stars, which he proudly displayed on his WW 2 hat. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Antonia H. Garcia; their children: daughter, Ann Marie Goehringer and husband Alan of Black Foot, ID; son, Abel Garcia and wife Mary (Mia) of Kerrville, TX; daughter, Rose Elda Prochazka of Floresville, TX; son, Gabriel Garcia and wife Mary of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren: Aaron Garcia and wife Susan, Theresa Ann Garcia, Cindy Prochazka Ellsworth and husband Gary, Brant and wife Coralee, Steven and wife Carolyn, Glen and wife Nicole, Brielle and husband Breck, Irvin and wife Celeste and Christine; great-grandson, Benicio Patrick Garcia; brother, Joe Garcia; numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers for a Rosary being recited at 4:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at St. Gerard Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to Mass. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
