

Michael Edward Eldridge, 84, was born in Raymondville, Texas, on September 3, 1941 to Russell and Girleen Eldridge. The family, that included Mike and his sister, Tinya Clark, moved to Taft, Texas, in 1953 where he enjoyed growing up in a small farming community where everyone knew each other and about each other. He graduated from Taft High School beside his long-time friends with similar interests, including music, pottery, and photography that would connect them across the years. Mike’s artistic expression began as a left-handed bass drummer in high school and continued throughout his life as a talented guitar player entertaining family and friends with a mix of country and gospel music. All enjoyed his unique style and deep voice, and his full-bodied laugh persisted throughout all of his life and brings a smile to his loved ones upon remembering it.
As a young adult he worked several jobs including an oil field worker, rural milkman, and salesman while earning an Associate Degree in Applied Science. The remainder of his career, he was employed as a shipping agent with Boyd Campbell and Max Shipping companies. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed keeping up with the latest movies at the theater and continued to be ready to jump behind the wheel and cruise through the country creating many memories and interesting stories for his family.
Mike was fortunate to be blessed with five children: Tammy (Gregg) Eleeson, Kindell (Mario) Eagan, Jacob Eldridge, Brianna Eldridge, and Kylee (Michael) Vega. Four grandchildren: Justin Chambers, April Floyd, Shane Eagan, and Chase Eagan. Twelve great grandchildren and two nieces. He spent his later years with his partner Paula Bolin and her daughter Morissa Bolin and grandson Jesus Rios. In 2022, he moved to San Antonio to live with his daughter Kylee and her husband with his son Jake sharing in providing increased caregiver needs. He died peacefully at their home on June 28, 2026. Mike is preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Brianna, and his partner Paula. The memorial service will be held on Friday, July 10, 2026 from 10-1 PM at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78206.
