Nancy Virginia Harrell

Nancy Virginia Mauldin Harrell, our beloved mother, “mamaw”, sister and treasured friend died peacefully in the arms of Our Savior and Lord on Friday, May 11, 2012. She was born to Leonard R. and Emma Alice Mauldin on January 08, 1930 in Ballinger, Texas. Nancy attended Loretto High School, in El Paso Texas run by the Sisters of Loretto. Upon graduation she attended Tarleton State University, where she met her future husband Joe Harrell. Nancy claimed Tarleton was as close to Texas A&M as she could get, because only very few women were allowed to attend but not allowed to obtain any kind of a degree. Nancy was a great listener and confidant; she loved unconditionally and prayed abundantly. All who met and knew her enjoyed her stories of the wonderful life she was so blessed to have lived. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Edward Harrell, Jr. and is survived by their six children: Judy (Walter) Hooks, Guy (Donna) Harrell, Scott (Debbie) Harrrell, Jim Harrell, Jan (Paul) Stone, Jo Ellen “JoJo” (Glenn) Gaiser; sister, Lenise (Brad) Chaffe; grandchildren: David (Robin) Hooks, Sarah (Terry) Posey, Troy (Kelly) Harrell, Forrest (Candice) Harrell, Aimee Harrell, Lacey Harrell, Jonas (Lisa) Harrell, Candy Wilson, Travis Gaiser, Casey Gaiser and 17 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her faithful companion Robert Marshal. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Lodge at Leon Springs Assisted Living Facility and the nursing staff at All County Home Care, LLC for their compassionate love and care for “Mom”. The family will receive friends at 9:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers with a Rosary being recited at 10:00 a.m. by Deacon Isak Keyman. A Celebration of Nancy’s Life will follow. Proceeded by Graveside Services at Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to San Antonio American Diabetes Association or Hermann Sons Youth Camp-Shannon Leigh Gaffney Scholarship Fund.
