

Onesimo D Torres was born on February 16th,1935 in Palau, Mexico to Brigido Torres and Saturinina Diaz as a family of 6 siblings. He spent his early life working in the mines and playing baseball for the Diablo Rojos de Palau as a center fielder. He married Olivia Soto and began a new life with her, eventually migrating to the United States settling in their current home in San Antonio to start a family.
Onesimo worked for the San Antonio Packing Company where he retired at the age of 62. He enjoyed listening to music, with Juan Gabriel being his favorite, and whistling along to any song. His love for baseball never stopped as he cheered for Fernando Valenzuela. He would also pass his time reading El Vaquero novedades. Onesimo gave nicknames to everybody and he loved to eat. Onesimo loved to fish and shop at the flea markets, always trying to find the best deals. His most famous phrases are “Que escure”, “naranjas” or “oranges” which means “nothing”, and “Que pedo trae”. Onesimo shared his love and generosity to better his family.
He joins his wife, Olivia Soto, for their everlasting life together, as his legacy and memories will be celebrated through their sons Gaspar, Onesimo Jr., Jesse, three daughter in laws, twelve grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren.
A visitation for Onesimo will be held Tuesday, April 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, TX 78205. Burial will follow at Meadowlawn Memorial Park, 5611 E Houston St, San Antonio, TX 78220.
