He is survived by his beloved wife of 15 years, Luisa Gonzalez Galvan, and their cherished children, Joel O. Chi, Diego Gonzalez and Annabela Chi. He is also survived by his mother Rufina Chi; siblings Urbano Chi, Eleazar Chi, Esther Chi, Alicia Rhenau, Hector Chi, and Reynaldo Chi. Rene was preceded in death by his father, Marcelino and brother Silvino Chi.
Rene worked as a school bus driver for Northside Independent School District in San Antonio, where he was known for his reliability and care for the students he transported each day. Outside of work, Rene found great joy in remodeling projects—always ready with a tool in hand and a vision for how to make something better.
His presence, kindness, and steady spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
