Richard E. Rodriguez

Richard E. Rodriguez, a devoted and hard-working individual, passed away on January 6, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on May 19, 1939, in San Antonio, Texas, Richard was the beloved son of Francisca E. and Jose Zamora Rodriguez. He spent his formative years in San Antonio, graduating from Fox Tech High School before joining the United States Army in 1961.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was married to Estella G. Rodriguez for 59 years, and together they built a beautiful family. He is survived by his loving wife, Estella, and their three daughters: Elizabeth Rodriguez, Eleanor Rodriguez (Leo), and Elaine Garza (Marco). Richard was also a cherished grandfather to five grandchildren—Andrea, Adrian, Aileen, Emily, and Catalina—and a great-grandfather to Alani. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Throughout his life, Richard enjoyed travel, gardening, and watching sports, particularly football and basketball. He loved going out to eat and spending time with his family. Richard also had a fondness for watching animals and people. His career spanned over 40 years with the Texas Department of Transportation, where he was known for his dedication and hard work.

The visitation for Richard E. Rodriguez will be held on January 27, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Funeraria del Angel Roy Akers, located at 515 N Main Avenue, San Antonio, Texas, 78205. The funeral service will take place at the same venue on January 28, 2026, at 11:00 am. Following the service, the committal will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #1, at 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas, 78209, at 1:00 pm.
