Roger Ortega Rodriguez entered eternal rest on July 18, 2016 at the age of 71. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he was born to Martin and Velia Rodriguez on August 2, 1944; he now joins his parents and reunites with his loving wife of 32 years, Maclovia A. Rodriguez. He is survived by his children: Roger Rodriguez Jr., spouse Elisa C. Rodriguez, Veronica Rodriguez Ortegón, spouse Ruben A. Ortegón, Gabriel Rodriguez, Maclovia A. Rodriguez-Segura, spouse Anthony E. Segura II; grandchildren: Michael Anthony Rodriguez, Stephanie Nicole Rodriguez, Ruben Rogelio Ortegón, Rosalinda Maclovia Ortegón, and Sofia Isabella Ortegón; brother Alfonso Rodriguez; sister Angelina Riojas; and numerous other relatives. Roger was a loving son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather. A true family man at heart, he was deeply rooted in his Catholic faith. He loved and gave to all without any expectations. He had an undeniable love for his siblings, family, was a great advisor and confidant as well as a best friend. Roger was a person that enjoyed time with his family, whether it was at home with his kids and grandkids or going out to visit his family. He loved to go to the movies, shopping, traveling, and to restaurants with his loved ones to spend time together. His carefree spirit was reflected in the beautiful smile he had every day. His strong will to keep moving forward, no matter how great the odds were, was due largely to his strong family values and disciplined military background. To his grandkids he was a hero and the greatest grandpa ever. To his children he was a best friend, a loving and amazing father because no matter the circumstances he always knew the right thing to say. To friends and family he was always unselfish, very giving and above all a truly understanding man. Often he was the recipient of random acts of kindness from total strangers, perhaps God’s unexpected gifts to him for his own generosity to others. He will be truly missed, loved and forever remembered by everyone who was fortunate to have met this extraordinary man. Daddy from all of us, “Thank You and we Love You.” The family would like to thank and acknowledge the wonderful ICU staff at Kindred Hospital for their unwavering dedication and caring of their father. The family will receive guests at Roy Akers funeral home on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart the funeral home on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at 8:40 a.m. to celebrate a 9:00 a.m. Mass at San Fernando Cathedral.
