

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, Francisca Mata Acosta and Refugio Acosta Sr.; his sisters, Guadalupe Acosta, Dolores Acosta Santos, and Paula Acosta Coronado; and his brothers, Refugio Acosta Jr., Francisco Acosta, and Reginaldo Acosta.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elsa Acosta; his daughter, Patricia Acosta; his sons, Ruben Acosta Jr. and Daniel Acosta; his grandchildren, Regina Longoria (Ryan), Kaitlyn Regalado, Kimberly Regalado, Larissa Acosta, and Ruben Acosta III; his great-granddaughter, Raelynn Longoria; and his sisters, Rosa Acosta Rodriguez (Jose), Hilda Acosta, and his twin sister, Lydia Acosta Olivo (Juan).
A hardworking man, he spent more than 45 years working as a sheet metal contractor. He took great pride in his craft and built a reputation for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family.
Those who knew him will remember his joyful spirit and sense of humor. He was known as the jokester, always able to make others laugh. No matter the situation, he always found good in the bad.
He found happiness in fishing. Many would say he was the best at it and loved spending time by the water. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching sports whenever he could.
He enjoyed cooking and barbecuing. He took great joy in sharing the meals he made for family and friends.
He also loved spending time outdoors planting and caring for his plants. It brought him joy to watch things grow. Just like in life, he put patience, care, and dedication into everything he nurtured.
Above all else, he was the best husband, father, and grandfather. Everything he did in life was done with love and with the intention of helping others. His family was his greatest pride, and he devoted his life to caring for them.
He had a heart of gold and was always willing to give whatever he could, even when he had little himself. He cherished every moment with the people he loved. He had a strong will to live and always expressed his desire to keep going in life.
His kindness, laughter, and unforgettable love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and love will live on through his family and all whose lives he touched.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Roy Akers Funeral Home, 515 N Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78205 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary beginning at 5:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place the following morning at San Fernando Cathedral, 115 Main Plaza, San Antonio, Texas 78205 at 10:00 a.m., after which his services will conclude.
