Sandra Gene Hagar, 88, passed away on July 30, 2026, leaving a legacy of kindness, devotion, and gentle strength.
Born in Middletown, Delaware, Sandra was raised in Houston, Texas. A talented dancer in her youth, she carried that same grace throughout her life. She married Fred Tilford on August 12, 1960, and together they built a loving family life that lasted more than four decades.
Sandra’s life was defined by Family, Friends, Faith, Food, and Fun. Family was always at the center of her world. Her Christian faith remained a quiet source of strength, and her warmth brought her many treasured friendships. A wonderful cook, she made Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners special and turned the family table into a place of comfort and belonging. She also enjoyed dancing, movies, romance novels, Texas-themed puzzles, family vacations, and time with her beloved dogs Pepe, Benji, and Coco.
After Fred’s death in 2004, Sandra moved to California to be near her family. There, she found renewed independence, formed many friendships, and created a meaningful new chapter that lasted 22 years.
Sandra is lovingly remembered by her son, Bruce; her cherished grandchildren, Tyler and Audrey; Jenny, with whom she shared a close and enduring bond; and her many friends and loved ones. Sandra was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
A service in her honor will be held on August 29, 2026 at 10:00am at Roy Akers Funeral Home in San Antonio, Texas.
