August 11, 1921 – February 9, 2018
Tiburcio “Butch” M. Solis, age 96, lifelong resident of San Antonio, Texas, entered Our Lord’s eternal rest on February 9, 2018.
He is preceded in death by his parent, Catarino and Matiana Solis; his brother, Luis; and sister Dominga.
Butch proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He retired from Kelly AFB after 39 years of faithful and devoted Federal Civilian Service.
He will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and his love for music. One of his greatest pastimes was playing his music at different events. He played the organ at The Basilica of the Little Flower, and the piano at St. Paul’s Catholic Church. In 2016 he was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award for many years of devoted service, and his contributions to The Alzafar’s Director’s staff. He entertained thousands by playing the calliope during The Battle of Flowers and Flambeau Parades. He was also a Lifetime Member of The Patterson Masonic Lodge #1177 AF & AM.
He is survived by his brother Alfonso Solis and wife Jean; daughter, Sandra; son, Robert; grandchildren: Sarah, Ryan, and Jake, along with numerous nieces and nephews; extended family (cousins) Rachel Perez and her family ( Sylvia, Jonathan, Kristina Lopez) The Perez Family will be forever grateful that he became part of our family and left us many loving memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the St. Agnes Catholic Church (Alter Society), 814 Ruiz St., San Antonio, Texas 78207.
Friends, Family and others whose lives have been touched by “Butch” are invited to celebrate his life.
Visitation begins at 5:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Roy Akers Funeral Home.
A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 9:30 am for a Mass at St. Agnes Catholic Church at 10:00 am.
Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
