Carol, born at Valley Baptist Hospital in Harlingen, always lived in Rio Hondo, a fact of which she was quite proud. After her High School graduation in 1963, she attended and earned a degree in Home Economics education from Texas State College for Women, now Texas Woman's University. Upon graduation she accepted a position as a Home Economics teacher in Rio Hondo High School. Back home, she reconnected with the Community Church and joined the choir. Longtime friend and school mate Alan Myer came back into her life and soon they married.
When their children were old enough to attend school, Carol returned to teaching at the high school until her retirement in 2002. Her longtime partner in this endeavor was Connie Petty, another graduate of TSWC.
As her family duties lessened, Carol became more active at the church, along with Alan. She was the church's long time treasurer and bulletin printer, both weekly duties in addition to her choir responsibilities. She produced the church directory biennially, including taking photos of congregation members.
Carol became a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, an honorary organization for women educators in 1985. For Many years she gathered the data for, printed, and distributed the organization's extensive yearbooks.
She will be greatly missed and forever loved by her family and friends.
