

Eva G. Cortez, age 91, of San Benito, Texas was called home by our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. She was born on March 09, 1933 to loving parents Antonio and Marcela Gracia of Laureles, Texas.
Eva worked for the San Benito Independent School District for 24 years starting as a secretary at Fred Booth Elementary School before transferring to the SBCISD Administration Office in her later years. She and her late husband, Adan, were lifelong parishioners of St. Benedict's Catholic church where they served as Marriage Encounter sponsor couple, Eucharistic ministers and members of the church choir.
After the passing of her husband of 54 years, Eva moved to Omaha, Nebraska with her daughter and her family where she lived for 10 years. She made friends and touched the lives of many people there.
Eva enjoyed embroidering and crocheting and made many blankets for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a great cook, but her biggest passion was baking. She enjoyed sharing the fruits of her talent with family and friends. She taught her grandchildren how to make tortillas and tamales and shared many of her favorite recipes with them.
Eva is survived by her children Adan Cortez, Jr. (Teresa "Terry"), Gloria Estella Williamsen (Greg), Daniel Cortez (Melisa) and by her sister Elida Beltran (Adolfo).
She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren, Adan Cortez III, Diana Cortez, Hannah Eve Cortez, Zachary S. Williamsen, Christin N. Koerperich, Megan E. Williamsen, Daniel Cortez, Jr. and Sidney Danielle Cortez; and to her great-grandchildren Miles Riker Cortez, Elijah Sage Cortez, Konstantine Nava, Kiley Nava, Tyson Scott Williamsen, Riley Mae Williamsen, Bo Alan Koerperich and Greyson Liam Hargrave.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Adan Cortez, Sr.; grandchildren, Kayla June Cortez and Adrian Cortez. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Antonio H. Gracia and Marcela Gracia; her sisters, Ester Reyna and Lucinda Alvarado and her brother, Rodolfo Gracia.
She lived a life well lived and a life well loved.
A Visitation for Eva will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 5:30pm with rosary at 7:00pm at

A Mass Funeral Service will be held at
St. Benedict's Catholic Church in
San Benito on Thursday, September 12, 2024 with burial to follow at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
