It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jose Guadalupe Gutierrez, known to his family as “Joe” and “Pepe.” He was a devoted husband, caring father, and loving grandfather. At the age of 74, he was called home to the Lord on March 15, 2026, passing away peacefully at home. He was born in Brownsville, Texas, on September 19, 1951. Jose will always be remembered for his playful grin and his hearty, loud laugh that complemented his smile.
Jose was the family's storyteller, loving to share tales of his life and experiences. A devoted family man, he had been married to his beloved for over 50 years. He enjoyed making others laugh with his silly jokes and was a big Dallas Cowboys fan, often watching Sunday night games and old western movies. Known for his warm and welcoming nature, everyone who knew him felt his genuine warmth. His greatest joy was watching his great-grandkids grow up and spending time with loved ones.
Jose is survived by his sisters, Carmen Garza and Ana Mendoza; his brothers, Melchor Mendoza and Medardo Mendoza Jr; his son, Jose G. Gutierrez Jr. (Millie-Jo Gonzalez Gutierrez); his grandchildren, Samantha Pacheco, Jordan Gutierrez, Shyanna Gutierrez, and Sergio Gutierrez Jr.; and four great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death are his beloved wife, Herminia Ramos Gutierrez; his parents, Teresa Mendoza and Medardo Mendoza; his sister Elena Latigo; his brother Martin Mendoza; and his son, Sergio Gutierrez.
Visitation hours for Jose will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Mont Meta & Memorial Park, followed by a Rosary at 7:00 PM.
The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Monta Meta & Memorial Park, with the burial following at 11:00 AM at Mont Meta Memorial Park.
