

Julio Santana Jr., 87 passed away Thursday, July 10, 2025. Julio was born December 3, 1937 in Rio Hondo, Texas to Julio Santana Sr. and Juanita Garza Santana. Raised and schooled in Rio Hondo his life was well rounded in craftsmanship and excellence. At 17 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps twentynine Palms, California. He married Flavia Guajardo in 1959 and together resided in California, later returning to Texas.
After some years at the Port of Brownsville Marathon Le Tourneau, a small business venture soon became one of the most reputable and successful business in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Santana's Welding Service.
After 46 years of dedicated service he retired to spend time with his devoted wife and family. In 2022, his loving wife Flavia passed away. A football game or great boxing match on TV was a perfect day.
Preceding in death are, his parents Julio and Juanita G. Santana; his wife, Flavia Santana; his daughter, Deborah S. Escamilla; his brothers, Santiago “Jimmy”, Samuel, Noe, Israel, and Gonzalo Santana.
He is survived by his sons, Julio Santana III (Hermelinda) and Saul S. Santana (Dede); his daughter, Leticia Santana; his Grandsons, Julio Santana IV, Jason M. Santana and Andrew Escamilla; his sister, Sara Woodall (Jim+); his brothers, Gilberto (Elvia), David (Enriqueta), Raul (Gracie), and Alfredo (Gladys); his son-in-law, Albin Escamilla. He is also survived by many cousins, nephews/ nieces, friends and countless business partners.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Amando Flores, Jay Lopez, Santos Garza, Andres Torres, Jason M. Santana, and Julio Santana IV.
A Visitation for Julio will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta & Memorial Park.
A burial will be held Saturday, July 19, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta & Memorial Park.
Services are under the guidance of Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta & Mont Meta Memorial Park, a Dignity Memorial provider. Services are under the direction of Shellie Vidos, F.D.A., and Daniel Roberto Gomez, location manager.
