Maria O. Pezeshki, a woman of unwavering faith, boundless love, and radiant optimism, passed away, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and devotion. Born to Manuel and Luz Olivarez, Maria carried the values of faith, family, and perseverance with her throughout her beautiful life.
She is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband of 52 years, Hossein Pezeshki, whose partnership with her was a testament to enduring love and commitment. Together they built a home rooted in faith, laughter, and compassion.
Maria was a proud and loving mother to her son, David Pezeshki (Maricela), and her daughter, Leila Galvan (Ray). Her greatest joy was being “Grandma” to Emma and Sofia Pezeshki and Nathan Galvan, who brought endless light to her life. She is also survived by her cherished siblings: Manuel Olivarez (Dora), Lucinda Cantu (Joe), Berta Morado (Alfredo†), and Pedro Olivarez (Paula), along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings, Guadalupe Garcia (Ricardo) and Daniel Olivarez.
A graduate of Texas A & I University, Maria devoted her professional life to shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher in Rio Hondo, Texas. She taught not only reading and arithmetic but also kindness, patience, and the belief that every child had unique gifts. Her classroom was a place of encouragement and hope.
Maria’s life was anchored in her faith. She attended church every Sunday and treasured her church family deeply. Her relationship with God guided her steps and filled her heart with peace and purpose. She believed that love was meant to be shared generously, and she lived that belief every day.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures: baking treats for those she loved, sewing with care, reading a good book, solving crosswords, and relaxing with “Wheel of Fortune” and Hallmark movies. She also enjoyed cooking dinners for her family and talking about the day over a nice cup of coffee.
Maria was always optimistic, always encouraging, always seeing the good in others. She had a rare gift for making people feel valued and understood. Her smile reassured, her words uplifted, and her presence brought comfort.
Her life reminds us that true beauty is found in a loving heart, steadfast faith, and a spirit that chooses joy even in difficult times.
Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she nurtured, and the love she gave so freely.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
Maria lived a beautiful life — and in doing so, she taught us all how to do the same.
