

Michael Lee Gonzales, 45, of Harlingen, Texas, passed away on November 17, 2025, in his hometown. Born in Harlingen and raised in San Benito, Texas, Michael built a life rooted in dedication, creativity, and deep love for the people around him.
Michael began his professional journey as a property manager and real estate agent before becoming the co-owner of Provecho y Salud Kitchen and Bar. Sharp-minded, business-savvy, and naturally gifted in building relationships, Michael approached every venture with passion and purpose. His work reflected not only his intelligence but also his commitment to uplifting others and creating opportunities within his community.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was a man of many gifts. He had an extraordinary passion for cooking, pouring his heart into every meal he prepared. His home was always beautifully decorated—warm, welcoming, and a reflection of his artistic spirit. Michael loved to travel, explore new places, and share meaningful moments with family and friends.
Those who knew him best will forever remember his thoughtfulness, his brilliance, and the generous way he shared his time, energy, and love.
Michael touched countless lives with his kindness and sincerity. His presence brought joy, comfort, and a sense of belonging wherever he went.
He leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unwavering love. Michael will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Michael is survived by his parents, David C. Gonzales and Nohemi Sanchez; his life partner, John Vargas; his siblings, David R. Gonzales Jr. (Summer), Amanda Lombardo (Jonathan) of Houston, Texas, and Deeanna Yin (Chiang) of Tyler, Texas; his grandfather, Santiago Gonzales Jr.; his children, Alexis Vargas and John Christopher Vargas; his beloved fur baby, Chico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Maria C. Gonzales; his aunt, Ruby Lee Garza; his uncle, Albert Garza; his cousin, Melissa Garcia; and his mother-in-law, Rosa Valdez Hoag.
A Memorial Service for Michael will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 10:00 AM with a Rosary at 11:00 AM and a Funeral Chapel Service at 12:00 PM.
