Reed Mitchell Parker

Reed Mitchell Parker, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and master craftsman, passed away on September 18, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on March 11, 1953, in San Benito, Texas, to Dr. Stephen Mitchell Parker and Jane Reed Parker, Reed spent his life rooted in the community he loved, leaving a permanent mark on the hearts of everyone he met.

For Reed, a stranger was simply a friend he hadn't met yet. His warmth, easy laughter, and genuine interest in people meant that wherever he went, he built lasting connections. As a master picture framer—owning and operating The Art Shop and Frame Gallery, first in San Benito and later in Harlingen—Reed approached his work with true artistry. He didn’t just frame art and memories; he cared for them, and the many people who walked through his doors adored both his craftsmanship and his gentle spirit.

Away from the shop, Reed’s greatest joy was his family. He coached his children’s soccer teams from the time they were little, cheering them on with pride and patience, and later took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was happiest when outdoors, living to fish and hunt, competing in local pool tournaments, or simply relaxing at home watching a game on TV.

Reed is now reunited with those who went before him, including his parents; his brother, Scott O'Leary Parker; his sister, Catherine "Cathy" Jean Parker; and his son, Julian O'Leary Parker.

He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and will carry his memory forward: his children, Crystian Stephanie (husband Rodrick/Skip) Whiles, Patricia "Pattie” Anne Parker, and Stephen Reed Parker (wife Sonia); his beloved grandchildren, Richardo Sanchez Jr., Kathie Lee Sanchez, Natalie Yvette Sanchez, Adyson Riley Parker, and Reed Mitchell Parker II; his 15 cherished great-grandchildren; his sisters, Janie Parker (husband Freddy) Petty, Evelyn "Debbie" Ann (husband Brian) Dyslin, and Crystal Michelle (husband Bill) Gregory; his nieces and nephews, Lana Kay Marquar Lander, Scott Rivas, and Gunner Gregory; as well as many extended family members and a wide circle of friends who were blessed to know him.

Reed’s hands created beauty, his heart welcomed everyone, and his legacy of love will live on forever in the lives of his family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 3, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Del Angel Funeral Home in San Benito, Texas.
