

Shirley Lavon Mitchell, 92, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on January 26, 2024. She was born on January 31, 1931, in Ada, Oklahoma. Shirley was a creative, hardworking, and fun-loving individual. She had a passion for teaching and was known for her entrepreneurial spirit.
Shirley began her career as a teacher at Weldon Gibson Elementary in Corpus Christi, Texas, and later taught at Fred Booth Elementary in San Benito, Texas. She also pursued her interest in agriculture and developed a large citrus orchard in Bayview, Texas. Shirley's career path led her to become a realtor in Port Isabel, Texas, and she eventually became a business owner in Skagway, Alaska. As an artist and printmaker, she showcased her talent and creativity in Skagway, Alaska.
In addition to her successful career, Shirley valued her personal and family relationships. She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Janko, her daughter, Janet Hardy, her granddaughters Heather Craig, Seychelle Johnson, Madison Hardy, her grandson, Paul Janko, and her great-granddaughters, Aslan Janko and Nova Hardy. She was preceded in death by her father, Jesse Wall, her mother, Mamie Qualls Wall, as well as her sister Doris LaPlante and brother James Wall.
Shirley's hobbies included printmaking, travel, real estate, and entrepreneurship. She enjoyed sharing her knowledge and skills with others and was always eager to explore new opportunities.
Shirley's funeral and burial services will be held at the Funeraria Del Angel Mont Meta Funeral Home and Memorial Cemetery in San Benito, Texas, 26170 State Hwy 345 San Benito, TX. on Saturday, February 3rd at 11:00am. The Funeraria Del Angel Mont-Meta Funeral Home will be assisting with the arrangements.
