During World War II, Donna’s father took a job as a cement contractor with a family friend. This required her family to pick up and leave everything they ever knew when she was 14, and move to San Bernardino, California in 1942. Donna graduated from San Bernardino High School in 1946.
In 1947, Donna married her first husband, Richard C. Langley Sr. and settled in Colton, California where they began to raise their family. Their first son, Richard Jr., was born in 1948; their second son, David, arrived in 1949; their third son, Dean, was born in 1951. In 1955, their family was complete with the arrival of their daughter, Diana.
For a brief time after being married, Donna served as a long distance telephone operator in San Bernardino, California. She very much enjoyed the work, and would later delight in recalling her experience of connecting calls for famous actors at the time.
Donna married her second husband, Conrad P. Johnson in 1978. They lived in Rialto, California until Conrad retired, and they began traveling the states in their truck and trailer. As the years passed, they wintered in Hemet, California and summered in Newport, Washington, sharing their time between their families. Donna lost her loving husband in 2011, after almost 33 years of marriage.
In early 2020, Donna moved into the Whispering Winds Community in Apple Valley, California, where she was beloved by her friends and even the staff. Donna enjoyed her time participating in the community activities at Whispering Winds, including her all time favorite, Bingo.
Throughout Donna’s life, she maintained a healthy sense of silliness and humor, and loved toys and playing games with family and friends. Donna so loved her family and friends, and she loved to have fun and loved life.
Donna is survived by her children: David Langley of Shingletown, CA; Dean Langley (Kristine) of Green Valley Lake, CA; Diana Fox (Doug) of Poulsbo, WA; her 2 stepdaughters: Carolyn Beem of Newport, WA, and Sally Merrill of Medford, OR; and her 2 sisters: Luella Benson of Conroe, TX; and Patricia Summers of Riverside, CA.
