Forever Our Kingfish
An unforgettable Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Son, Uncle, Coach, and Friend
How do you say goodbye to a man who meant so much to so many? A man whose laughter filled a room, whose love held a family together, and whose presence made ordinary moments unforgettable?
The truth is, you don’t. Because a man like Henry S. Lopez, lovingly known as “Kingfish,” is never truly gone. He lives on in every story told, every memory shared, every laugh, and every heart he touched.
Henry wasn’t just a husband, a father, or a grandfather. He was our protector, our storyteller, our biggest supporter, and sometimes, our biggest jokester.
To his wife, he was a lifetime of love.
For 41 beautiful years, Henry shared his life with his beloved wife, whom he affectionately called “Mama Bear.” Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, family, and memories that will forever be treasured. Forty-one years of marriage meant standing beside one another through life’s happiest moments and its greatest challenges. Their love story was not just measured in years, but in the countless little moments that made a lifetime together so special.
To his children, he was Pop.
Pop was more than just a name. It was comfort, strength, guidance, and unconditional love. He was the familiar voice, the laughter at family gatherings, and the man whose presence made everything feel a little more complete.
And, of course, Pop had jokes. Lots and lots of jokes. It didn’t matter if you had already heard the same joke five, ten, or a hundred times. He was going to tell it again anyway! And even when everyone rolled their eyes or said, “Pop, you already told us that one!” he would still laugh as though it were the first time.
Today, we would give anything to hear just more.
To his grandchildren, he was Grampy Bear.
A named filled with so much love. Being Grampy Bear was one of life’s greatest blessings. His grandchildren will forever carry the memories of his laughter, his stories, his playful personality, and the special love that only a grandfather can give.
He may no longer be here to create new memories with them, but the love he gave them will remain a part of who they are forever.
And to everyone who knew him, he was Kingfish.
A one-of-a-kind man with a personality you simply couldn’t forget.
Henry loved his sports, especially his beloved Raiders and Anaheim Angels. He was a loyal fan through the wins, the losses, the frustrating games, and the unforgettable victories. You could always count on kingfish to cheer for his teams.
But as much as he loved football and baseball, his greatest team was always his family.
His faith was an important part of his life, and it is through that same faith that we find comfort today. We trust that while our hearts are hurting here on earth, Henry is resting peacefully in God’s loving arms.
And maybe, just maybe, he’s already telling one of his famous dad jokes in Heaven.
We weren’t ready to say goodbye. We don’t think we ever could have been.
But we will carry your love with us every day until we meet again.
Forever Mama Bear’s love, our Pops, our Grampy Bear, and Kingfish.
