Kenneth Wayne Williams, 79, of Highland, CA, passed away on February 13, 2026. Born on October 31, 1946, in San Bernardino, CA, he was the youngest child of Sam and Ruth (Conklin) Williams and grew up in Bloomington, CA. Ken attended Colton High School in Colton, CA, where he was a member of the track team. He was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing and coaching soccer, baseball, and softball, and he was a trivia master who often shared interesting information with others while watching trivia game shows—sometimes even saying he didn’t know why he knew those things or where he learned them. Additionally, he had a 41-year career with the County of San Bernardino, primarily in Public Works and Flood Control.
Ken loved that his birthday was on Halloween, going all out to decorate the house, hosting and attending many Halloween parties, and enjoying hot dogs and potato soup every year. Upon his retirement, he began to enjoy golf and became a member of Arrowhead Country Club, eventually joining the board. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was everyone’s biggest advocate and supporter. Above all else, Ken loved spending time with his family and friends.
Ken is survived by his three children, Michael (Sherry) Williams; Kurt (Teresa) Williams of Sumner, WA; and Brenda (Williams) McConnell; seven grandsons, Brad Williams, Shane Williams, Kohl Williams, Kameron (Natalie) McConnell of Middleton, ID, Austin McConnell, DeAndre Gasaway, and Zach McConnell; one great-granddaughter, Marceline McConnell; and one brother, Rex (Charlon) Williams of Prescott, AZ, as well as a host of other family members.
Ken was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Barbara (Lautenschlager) Williams; his parents, Sam and Ruth Williams; two brothers, Sam and Butch Williams; and his sister, Susie (Williams) McAllister. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, as he leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Mountain View Mortuary, 570 E. Highland Ave., San Bernardino, CA 92404, on March 12, 2026, from 3:00–7:00 p.m with services the next day on Friday March 13, 2026 at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of his wife Barbara to the ALS Network.
